Six Communities, Not One City-Wide Template

Surrey is the second-largest city in British Columbia by population and the largest in Metro Vancouver by land area, made up of six distinct communities rather than one downtown core. That geography matters practically: a caregiver based near City Centre may have a very different drive time to a client in South Surrey than to one in Guildford, and a provider needs enough coverage across the city to avoid long travel gaps between visits.

Families near the SkyTrain-connected City Centre often want help coordinating transportation to appointments, while families in more rural South Surrey or Cloverdale properties may need a caregiver comfortable with larger homes, longer driveways or acreage-style properties.

In a city as spread out as Surrey, the single biggest factor in whether home care actually works day to day is caregiver consistency, the same one or two familiar faces, not a rotating roster of strangers.

Surrey Communities We Know

Surrey is officially organized into six community areas, and each has a different character worth understanding before choosing care.

Newton

Surrey's most populous and culturally diverse community, with a large South Asian population where language-matched caregivers are often requested.

Guildford

A dense residential area east of City Centre, anchored by major recreation centres, with a significant older-adult population in surrounding apartments.

Fleetwood & Cloverdale

Fleetwood is a newer, primarily residential town centre, while Cloverdale keeps a more historic, small-town feel with a mix of older and newer homes.

South Surrey & City Centre

South Surrey has larger lot sizes and a notably older demographic near White Rock, while City Centre (Whalley) is Surrey's fast-growing, high-rise downtown core.

Surrey Memorial, Peace Arch, and Discharge Planning

Surrey Memorial Hospital, located at 13750 96 Avenue, is a major Fraser Health acute care and trauma centre serving Surrey and much of the surrounding Fraser Valley. In South Surrey and White Rock, Peace Arch Hospital is the local acute care facility, providing emergency and surgical services closer to that part of the city. Because these two hospitals serve different parts of Surrey, the practical distance from home to hospital, and back home again after discharge, varies significantly depending on where in the city your parent lives.

Whichever hospital is involved, the discharge window is often the highest-risk period for a fall, medication error or unplanned readmission. Our hospital-to-home care and post-discharge nursing services are built to get a caregiver or nurse in place quickly once discharge planning begins.

Home Care Services Available in Surrey

Because Surrey's population and housing stock are so varied, we build each plan around a clinical assessment rather than a fixed package. Our full home care services page outlines everything available before you book an assessment.

Yes. Our hospital-to-home and post-discharge nursing services are designed for that exact transition, covering medication management, wound care and mobility support at home.

The core services are the same, but caregivers plan around local factors like distance from Peace Arch Hospital and each neighborhood's housing type, whether a townhouse, acreage or high-rise.

Cost depends on weekly hours and whether nursing-level care is needed. A free in-home assessment gives an accurate estimate based on your family's specific situation.
